L-Carnosine Anti-Aging A natural multipotent and life-prolonging agent

Carnosine is a substance currently making the headlines in media and science. We are talking about a life-prolonging agent which is said to be not only completely safe and absolutely non-toxic, but due to protection and regeneration of proteins and lipids has also the potential to slow down aging processes. Carnosine is a natural, multifunctional dipeptide of the amino acids beta-alanine and L-histidine. It is a natural component of food. Our body consists essentially of proteins. After each division the cell approaches its death, which is fixed by genetic information in a certain number of cell divisions. In a series of experiments, scientists have proved at an Australian research institute that Carnosine stabilizes cells and gets a functioning status if they approach the aging stage. It can maintain a stable inner body environment which leads to a youthful appearance of the cells. By means of Carnosine, cells lived longer and showed a youthful appearance and tendency to growth.

The Carnosine level decreases with age. Thus, between the age of 10 and 70 years, the Carnosine values in the muscle decrease by 63%, which corresponds to the normal age-relating decrease of muscle mass and function. A supplement with Carnosine can consequently be the basis for a youthful appearance and for keeping cells young.

Carnosine is completely safe and absolutely non-toxic. It is especially advantageous that Carnosine is safe even if taken in high dosage, as the body would neutralize lower quantities of Carnosine. One of these polyphenols, epigallocatechingallat (EGCG), has a multiply higher antioxidative activity than vitamin C and a multiply higher activity than vitamin E in the biological system. Therefore, it is no wonder that the scientific interest in green tea has considerably increased during the past years. Among others, antioxidative, antiviral, antimicrobial characteristics have been awarded to it and characteristics which are contradictory to an uncontrolled cell development. Catechins, first and foremost the EGCG, are said to be responsible for it. EGCG is the antioxidatively most active substance among all catechins of green tea.
